This was the St Patrick's Day parade, the Saturday before. It was cold and I have to admit a little disappointing because there wasn't a lot of bagpipers or floats. There was a lot of Irish families and clans that were wearing excess amounts of green. And a lot of dogs. Still I will probably go again next year, why not it's a fun family tradition. And I can call it a dork parade with respect, being a big dork myself (want proof ask me what I did for St Patrick's Day when I was in 7th grade)
Here was a bunch of folks dressed up as alcoholic beverages, had something to do with some Utah proposition, I thought it was funny, I hurried to take a picture of Abby because I wanted to see the look on her face, but she saw me and smiled. I'm sure on the inside she was shocked and horrified.
Some sort of Irish pixie I think. This family was the most creative in their get-ups. They had some little kids that were pots o' gold, but I wasn't quick enough to get them.
Everybody loves green-tailed ponies.
This felt like one of the only floats with decorations , well endowed ones at that.
My kids with their other moms, because let's face it a picture of one of them is almost like a picture of me.

Yes, you and your sister, (and may I add sisterS) look alike. I have a hard time remembering which sister I'm seeing when they come to visit you. Your title for the parade made me laugh, love it. Thanks for letting me play with you and your kids, I needed that tonight!
I laughed at the Dork Parade! I mean...where else can you see a green-tailed pony?? Or an Irish pixie with a nice butt?? (..talk about well endowed!) Maybe she's a leprechaun? Maybe just an Irish lass. I couldn't quite make out the gist of the General Connor float, but I do know some of the old limerick. Myself...I made a great corned beef brisket in my crock pot and from it came many wonderful Ruben sandwiches! Sure...I'd like to know what you did in the St. Paddy's Day parade in the 7th grade. I'm sure it will make for a limerick..
"There once was a Mom from near Orem...
Who more often than not chose art as her forum..
Except for that time when in 7th Grade..
When she oddly [blank]'ed at the St. Paddy's Parade...
and the [blank-blank] that she [blank]'ed broke dork-decorum."
Thanks Uncle John, one of the things I love about the Davenports, we're all so lyrical. In 7th grade I thought it would be "cool" to wear all green. I'll try and paint a picture. Ahem. Green short overalls, green shirt underneath it (naturally) green and white striped tights, green sneakers, and my hair in pigtails with green and white ribbons. It wasn't too long into first period before I'd realized what a huge mistake I'd made and somehow managed to get my tights off in class with no one noticing. To top it all off a boy in my grade kicked me in the shin later on and said, "that's for wearing too much green!" Looking back now I suppose I was lucky to walk away with a bruised shin (not to mention pride) and no head injuries.
